Chikmagalur, one of the picturesque, and serene tourist destinations in Karnataka is located at a height of about 3400 feet. Famous for its coffee estates and a pleasant climate, Chikmagalur gets its name from “Chikka magala ooru”, which when translates means “younger daughter’s town.”

A little of history as to how did it get its name tells us that it was given away as dowry to the younger daughter of Rukmangada, the Chieftain of Sakhrayapattana.

Situated at around 250 kms from Bangalore it is one of the best weekend getaways, and also road trips for youngsters like me. Visiting Chikmagalur was not planned at all and happened all of a sudden when life was throwing various challenges at me. But, visiting this place had brought me tranquility an unknown motivation towards life. This will by far be my most cherished trip.

Now, coming to how it all started. Since nothing was planned and booked I set out on the bike all by myself to explore this place. This ride from Bangalore to Chikmagalur consisting of brilliant highways and curvy roads gave me a lot of experiences which will forever be etched in my memory. While riding, I observed how the scenery changed from barren surroundings to lush greenery on either side.

Everything about the place and the journey is unexplainable but one such place which definitely needs a special mention is the “Z Point.” This point is considered as the most scenic places of Chikmagalur. How much ever you wish that the time stalls here, but it just flies. I never knew when sunrise turned to sunset as I was just lost in absorbing the beauty and energy this place holds. The cold breeze swaying against your face, the sun meeting the land, so many shades of green, the charming ambiance, these are the mesmerizing experiences that are indescribable or unforgettable. This place holds some kind of treasure that unfolds slowly in front of your eyes, and you will be so lost that nothing really matters.

To sum up, this place gave me a new enthusiasm and energy to live my life. This trip has some everlasting experiences which will stay till my memory lasts.
