Most of us have been through times where our fondest childhood and adolescent memories have been getting up at a late Saturday morning, sipping up chocolate milk and watching our favourite cartoon programs on the television. Whether it be the iconic adventures of our favourite house cat and the mischievous mouse or the tales of our beloved carrot-loving rabbit and his friends.

Cartoons have always been successful in capturing our imagination. Cartoons are created by a technique termed as ‘Animation’.

Animation is a method in which pictures are manipulated to appear as moving images. Animation today is characterized by cartoon characters in motion, telling a story. If we delve deeper we will find animation technique as an old storytelling method that continues to captivate both home and business audience.

In simple terms, Animation is art-in-motion, something the human beings discovered as early as the Paleolithic age.

The historical backdrop of Animation exhibiting moving craftsmanship and pictures changed throughout the years. We are currently in a world when PC and web innovation makes some dynamite recordings delighted by many people.

History of Animation
The history of Animation started long before the development of cinematography. Humans have probably attempted to depict motion as far back as the Paleolithic period.

Evolution of Animation
The evolution of the Animation started around the 18th century when Joseph Plateau invented the Phenakistoscope. Phenakistoscope was the first device created which could depict the fluid illusion of animation.
After the invention of Phenakistoscope, the evolution of Animation grew rapidly over a period of time.

The Celluloid Shift and Cel Animation techniques modernized the process of motion graphics in the 1800s. There were a lot of notable animated motion pictures created during that era which depict the passion for cinematography. Some of the Notable works of art are Pauvre Pierrot and Autour d’une Cabine by Émile Reynaud, Colonel Heeza Liar by John Bray studios and Gertie The Dinosaur, by Winsor McCay.

After Gertie, a young animator named Walt Disney came along who started the next big revolution in Animation. He created the world known Mickey Mouse which has been the mascot for the Disney Studios since the 1930s. Walt Disney revolutionized the art of motion graphics and created the foundation of modern Animation on which even today the industry stands strong.

The Era of Computer Generated Motion Graphics.
The stop-movement technique was prevailing by what we call today as Computer Animation. Current Computer animation incorporates both 2D just as 3D illustrations which are then placed in motion by utilizing frame by frame method.

The method guaranteed that movies were made and rendered quicker, likewise guaranteeing that Animation was not just used to deliver film but also TV, for Brand narration and web series.

Films like Ready Player One, Toy Story and ‘Avatar’- the highest grossing film of all time are just a few examples of what modern cutting edge technology is capable of creating.

Post-2018- AR & VR Animation.
The Invention of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality has built up much new sense of opportunities for filmmakers and Designers. Since the discover it has caused many VFX and animators to make a significant effort by jumping into this immersive and interactive projects.

Whether anyone believes the hype or not, virtual reality and augmented reality is taking over the market. Billions of dollars are spent on VR/AR headset development, VR content creation, and getting users to adopt the technology.

The Career opportunities of multimedia artists and animators are projected to grow 8 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Projected growth will be due to increased demand for animation and visual effects in video games, movies, and television.

It is because animation has managed to inherit its deep roots in art and beauty which lures all types of audience in every period of time.

The Invention of AR and VR truly have made this immersive world of technology a delightful career option to choose. The technology advancement is truly rapid and the career demand is reaching high.

Cartoon animation does transport the viewer into another world inducing a thousand different emotions each time.
